When Ana Marie Cavazos was found dead on Leo Mager's kitchen floor last Friday night, Magers placed a phone call to a doctor friend of his asking what he should do about the situation.  The advice he received was to demand "a limited autopsy" and quickly "cremate the body".  According to her family, tomorrow Wednesday, December 12, 2001 the Sonoma County Coroner plans to release her remains.  The question arises: will he release the body to the  Cavazos' family or to Leo Magers?

This reporter first became aware of a possible marriage between Cavazos and Magers when Magers referred to Ana as "his wife" in court documents introduced in Marin County in the county's on going attempt to discredit, prosecute, and convict Carol Mardeusz, the mother of Leo Magers' daughter, Haleigh.

Last year I researched the records in Sonoma County and there was no marriage license for Cavazos and Magers. Yet Ana's family members described a non religious ceremony that took place in the Magers' home.  Ana had told them that they been married prior to this ceremony in the state of Nevada.  I asked a private investigator to search records in Reno, Nevada in an attempt to document the earlier marriage.  See the attached declaration which declare there was no such document from the time Nevada became a state until the present time.  Click.

Making matters even more puzzling is the fact that Cavazos' family members said that she had described a pre nuptial agreement that Leo Magers had demanded she sign before he would marry her.  The agreement stated that she would not receive any of his property and/or money if she left him before the fifth anniversary of their wedding.  She told them that the five years would be up on February 14, 2002.  One must ask if Ana was planning to leave Leo.  Could such a pre nuptial agreement have played some role in the death of Ana Marie Cavazos?

Surely the Sonoma County Coroner will demand to see proof of marriage before releasing the Ana's remains to Leo Magers.  If Magers cannot provide proof of marriage, then the Coroner should release the body to the Cavazos.  That certainly is their desire and it is the right thing to do.
