Euro-Green party researcher Grattan Healy and I tuck into dinner in the bar of
Genval's five-star Chateau du Lac hotel, just outside Brussels. For once, our
minds are not on the food. Rather, how to figure out whether or not the
super-secretive Bilderberg club will tomorrow have this hotel sealed off for
their notorious annual meeting.
Bilderberg takes it's name from a hotel in Holland where their first secret
transatlantic conference took place back in 1954. Original chairman and founder
of the club, ex-SS Nazi Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands owned the place.
Bilderberg's 'steering group' boasts the wealthiest bankers and industrialists
in the western world, no less.
Grattan's research has shown how elite clubs like Bilderberg and the Trilateal
Commission are managing somehow to install more of their members as European
Commissioners, at the policy-making heart of Europe. And more recently links
have been exposed with powerful European policymakers ERT, European Round Table
of industrialists. The current Bilderberg chairman founded it. Green MEP
Patricia McKenna has been getting embarrassing questions asked down at the
European Union's policy rubber stamping department, the Parliament.
As for me, I'm curious to see these Bilderbergers in the flesh for the first
time after having researched their activities on and off for four years or so.
Being stony broke I've got to Brussels from Bristol mostly by skipping trains,
it's got to be the right place after all that effort. During a snoop round the
hotel interior Grattan spots a sign pointing to a
'Steering Committee Meeting' meeting. A deliberate hoax? We'll just have to
find out in the morning.
Mike Peters, Marxist Sociology lecturer from Leeds, who has written one of the
most comprehensive studies to date on the Bilderbergers, flew into Brussels late
that evening Wednesday 31st June. Another chancer. Arriving at the 'Chateau' the
next morning we notice rear entrances have been padlocked and chained. Around
the front, the mock-Florentine lobby has a rude addition, a white canvas
entrance tunnel and drive-in awning has sprung up overnight. Is this to protect
chauffeur-driven guests from the rain on this cloudless day...? or from prying
eyes. This is no bum-steer, The Spotlight's got the place all right. This
sometimes seemingly zenophobic right-wing American magazine seems to be the only
media that consistently follows Bilderberg activities and the only source for
where the meeting will be held. It's not difficult for the
Bilderbergers PR people to discredit such a source.
About four the limos begin arriving. The shiny black Mercedes' with their
characteristic 'B' clearly displayed in the front windscreen. We can just see
into the awning and film most of the participants as they emerge from the backs
of the limos. Doormen attempt to hold makeshift curtains up to conceal the more
sensitive guests. We manage mostly to film them between the gaps.
We have a chat with photographer and reporter for The Spotlight. What a sincere,
concerned pair they seem, and we had been told Spotlight were neo-nazis.
Chilling to think that without the bloodhound work of writer Jim Tucker no-one
but the participants would know this meeting was taking place.
'But we send out a press release...', the Bilderberg office bleat if you bother
to complain. What they don't tell you is that you have to request it from the
hotel (how is anyone supposed to know where to call?) and they only release it
as everybody's leaving. Too late for the press. Thursday 1st June is a bank
holiday in Belgium. Families are out in the sun, taking a stroll round the
lovely Geneva lake, almost oblivious to the capitalist heavyweights emerging
from limos feet away inside the awning.
The regulars are arriving, Conrad Black, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands,
Kenneth Clarke, David Rockefeller, James Wolfenson, president of the World Bank.
The new Chairman, Viscount Etienne Davignon, comes out to get what, we joke,
looks like a bag of drugs from his car. He owns most of the public utilities and
one of the biggest banks in Belgium. 'Will you be holding a press conference Mr.
Davignon?' Grattan shouts, 'I don't think so' Davignon replies. 'Why not'. 'We
don't have enough important things to say'. Capitalism's heavyweights are
rolling up now. 'Who's that?' 'It's
Jean-Claude Trichet'. 'Who's he?' 'The next boss of the European Central
Bank'..He obviously won't have anything important to say either... 'What about
this one?' 'That's Daniel Vasella, CEO of Novartis with William McDonough,
president of the Federal Reserve bank of New York' 'That one's the boss of the
Washington Post and hey, there goes George Soros! Look, it's one of the new
European Commissioners, Pascal Lamy!' This looks like an elite to me.
Another brand-new Merc. arrives. An aloof looking guest turns away from the
cameras. We look at each other and shake our heads, another one we don't recognize.
One of us calls out to him: 'Are you a big shit sir?'
The passing Belgian public are hanging around, they seem spellbound by the line
of polished black Mercs. 'What's going on?', they keep asking, in French, as we
prepare for the next arrival. 'It's Bilderberg'. They nod in reply, as if they
know what we mean, then shuffle off looking puzzled. Untouchable elite types
swinging out of limos next to a busy public road and footpath. Clearly an
uptight security man's nightmare. Men with bulging sweaters or badly-fitting
jackets wearing dark glasses walk back and forth.
Ah, that'll be the plain clothes Belgian secret service with their guns then. I
ask one if he knows what's going on at the hotel, 'I don' know', he smiles,
baring rat-like teeth. He's not a good actor, glad I can't see his eyes. A big
CIA officer turns up and orders the Belgians around, they know their place.
This year's Bilderberg had to be hastily rearranged after the Austrian anti-EU
'Freedom Party' was elected hence we and the public are so close by. We might
never get this opportunity again. If they had met as planned in Austria there
would probably have been official criticism and heaps of publicity. For a cabal
all publicity is bad publicity.
Bilderberg does everything it can to conceal where it's meeting and doesn't
bother with a press conference any more. Okay, out the window go journalistic
freedoms which are the lynch pin of any democracy. Inside, media barons and
compliant writers from The Economist, sworn to secrecy, smooch year after year.
They have created a vacuum. We decide to get on the telephone. On Saturday
morning Belgian daily 'De Morgen' delivered the goods with a lead front page
story by the ex-editor all about the no longer quite so secret Bilderberg
conference. Critical and amusing coverage on national Belgian TV news and in
papers and satirical magazines followed into the week. In stead of being secret
the conference was one of the big stories of the week. In Belgium.
When the national papers phoned the mayor of the local Genval principality he
said they must be joking! If Queen Beatrix and Henry Kissinger were there he'd
know about it. Bilderberg, it seems, is above politics. Politicians, newspaper
editors, European commissioners and civil servants who agree to enter Bilderberg
swear complete secrecy. Not just about the content of the meeting but about the
very existence of Bilderberg. They leave their accountability at the door. Have
the bankers grown so arrogant that they now see democratic institutions and
public opinion simply as
competition to be taken out.
Just as the Bilderbergers were leaving on the Saturday two secret service asked
the Spotlight photographer to show a Belgian press pass then threatened to beat
him up. They chased him into a nearby taverna where he was rescued by boss and
waiters only to be chased again at the local station. He made a narrow escape by
running across the tracks to jump on a train going the wrong way. Surreal.
Was someone about to leave the hotel they didn't want him snapping? Clinton was
in Aachen that day, just down the road. Bilderberg have been shown to
accidentally leave heads of government off the official attendance list before.
Just one question we wanted to ask at the press conference that never was.
Bilderberg stretches our credulity, particularly when their habitually anonymous
supporters use angry disinformation, mud-slinging and 'guilt by association' in
a shabby attempt to discredit critics. According to the hotel, this year's
meeting was a croquet tournament 'with some well-known spectators'. Another
cover story was that the French football team were staying. Even the security
name tags said Brussels 2000,
just like the football.
These power-brokers lie too easily. The more facts that emerge about
Bilderberg's key role in lobbying for a corporate controlled Europe and the more
lies they disseminate to try to cover themselves the more healthy suspicion they
arouse.
Why, for example, might Tony Blair have said in answer to a parliamentary
question by Christopher Gill MP in March 1998 that no members of his cabinet had
attended Bilderberg meetings, when he himself clearly was on the official Athens
conference list in 1993 before becoming Labour leader? His attendance was even
commented on by William Rees-Mogg in The Times! The Danish parliament is
considering banning all politicians from attending. So who's in charge? The
bankers or the politicians? What about the proverb that says 'the borrower is
servant to the lender'? Can Bilderberg
politicians like Clarke, Blair and Mandelson be trusted? And are the governments
of the world now just PR and tax managers for the banks? There simply has to be
a thorough international examination of this private little bankers' club that
has toes in so many political doors. And we must catch up on the right's ability
to cut through complex-sounding economics gibberish. They have taken the lead on
Bilderberg because they understand the power of the bankers far better than we
do on the left.
Economic priorities detrimental to ordinary people in the west, not to mention
the developing world, are pushed forward at Bilderberg by the ruling class,
those who have more influence than anyone else over the future, in total secret.
It's time to call this elite cabal to account and ensure their meetings are
fully scrutinized.

- Incidentally the original commission were sacked by the Parliament on the
Ides of March 1999 ed.]
The situation as I see it is that the 'global elite' have performed yet another
coup. They have so far had many of their people elected to high office - Bill
Clinton, Lionel Jospin, Tony Blair, as well as Jacques Santer, Wim Duisenberg
(now head of the European Central Bank), and many others.
Romano Prodi was a Steering Committee Member of the Bilderberg Group in the
80s - I have a copy of their booklet from 1982, which incidentally also shows
that Wim Duisenberg was the then Treasurer. What is noticeable that Prodi has
limited the declarations of his Commissioners to 10 years, something not done in
the previous Commission, and so has allowed himself not to declare this former
highly sensitive role. Since the head man is a member of the elite, it should be
no surprise that he has nominated 7 other elite members (and incidentally 4
others suspected of involvement in fraud!). These 7 are: As result of
Parliamentary questions from Patricia McKenna, Irish Green MEP, Mario Monti has
now formally declared that he was a former Steering
Committee member of Bilderberg ('83-'93) and implies that he is also a former
Executive Committee member of the Trilateral Commission, as well as council of
the Aspen Institute. However, he was still present until recently on the
Trilateral homepage - http://www.trilateral.org/memb.htm,
and was in both the '92 and '98 membership lists; he said in an EP answer that
he was a member of the Executive committee of the Trilateral Commission
(Europe), from 1988 to 1997, which is not what he was asked
about. Erikki Liikanen attended Bilderberg last June in Sintra, Portugal,
according to the official press list circulated, and reported in Portuguese
newspaper, The News Weekly (link out of date - http://the-news.net/archives/bilburglist05-6.htm,
but the list is at: http://www.tlio.demon.co.uk/bilder.htm)
According to his declaration, Frits Bolkestein is to remain a Member of the
Royal Institute of International Affairs (or Chatham House, in London),
originally established by Cecil Rhodes, and responsible for establishing the
Council on Foreign Relations in the USA (the other major elite group which
includes all senior political and administrative figures in the USA, also
including the President). He does not mention his participation in the
Bilderberg Group in Toronto in 1996, the first time where their list was widely
circulated, and it can be found at http://www.tlio.demon.co.uk/bilder.htm.
Pedro Solbes Mira declares his membership of the Trilateral Commission since
1996
(quote: "I.1.2 Posts currently held Member of the Spanish section of the
Trilateral Commission (since 1996)", but fails to mention that he is on the
Steering Committee, (their homepage doesn't mention that he is a Commissioner
either: "Pedro Solbes, Member of the Spanish Parliament; former Minister of
Finance and of Agriculture,
Madrid", or his participation in Bilderberg last year. He is apparently
scheduled to go to the June Swiss meeting this year. Gunther Verheugen doesn't
mention his participation in Bilderberg in 1995 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland
(see again

Chris Patten says that while he was Governor of Hong Kong he had many
memberships of charitable organizations, but we cannot regard his membership of
the Trilateral Commission in this way (he is on their official list from March
'98), and he doesn't list it is a current membership either.
Finally, Antonio Vitorino does not declare
that he attended Bilderberg in 1996 (see again http://www.tlio.demon.co.uk/bilder.htm).
Bilderberg claims to have no formal membership as such, but has a list of 120 or
so invitees which changes slightly from year to year, reflecting a sort of
changing membership. It has a core group, reflected in the Steering Committee.
Either way, in the spirit of openness, and also the written answers from
Commissioners like Liikanen (http://www.europarl.eu.int/dg2/hearings/pdf/com/answer/liikanen/en/default.
pdf), proposing the declaration of all political roles (in answer to a Green
question), I would have thought these rather important roles should be

The
Human Genome Project and Eugenics

"Today we are learning the language in which God created life...humankind
is on the verge of gaining immense new power to heal. Genome science will have a
real impact on all our lives, and even more on the lives of our children. It
will
revolutionize the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of most, if not all, human
diseases.”
With these words President Clinton announced the completion of the mapping of
the human genome on 6/26/2000. Will this scientific accomplishment usher in a
new age of disease-free human life or begin an epoch in which our social status,
and even our right to exist, is based on an analysis and classification of our
genes?
Leaving aside the possibility that the claim to have decoded the human genome
might be grossly-exaggerated or even totally false should we be thrilled about
our prospects for improved health and longevity, or instead be trembling at the
prospect of an entire society based on Eugenics? There are excellent reasons to
be very afraid of what this development will mean for us all in the very near
future.
The Human Genome Project is headquartered at the Cold Springs Harbor laboratory
on Long Island, NY-the exact site of the notorious Eugenics Research Office
started in 1910 by the Harriman family. The Human Genome Project is thus a
direct continuation of the Eugenics movement begun in the early part of the 20th
century.
Throughout its history the Eugenics movement has advanced an agenda that if
fully recognized and understood for what it is would shock most people living in
our current society of relative tolerance and diversity. Prominent advocates of
Eugenics in the US, including the Rockefellers, Henry Ford
and Margaret Sanger, wanted the government to decide who could reproduce and how
many offspring they could have; which ethnic groups should be excluded from
immigrating to the U.S. based on their alleged inferiority; and which medical
and psychological conditions should qualify one for
sterilization or euthanasia.
By the start of WWII 25 States in the U.S. had already passed Eugenics laws
requiring forcible sterilization, a policy which was declared constitutional by
the U.S. Supreme Court. Tens of thousands of American citizens, most of them
minorities, were ordered sterilized. Many States were on their way to passing
laws requiring euthanasia for the handicapped, the mentally ill and for career
criminals.
Adolf Hitler publicly praised the U.S. policy and copied many of its features
for the Nazi system which eventually resulted in the Holocaust. Due to the
emerging awareness of the Holocaust after WWII and of the extent to which Hitler
and Axis powers like Japan had planned to depopulate whole nations and even
entire continents, the public promotion of Eugenics experienced a temporary
setback.
After WWII, many top officials involved in creating and administering these Nazi
policies were brought to the U.S. by our own government and placed in
universities, in the military and in scientific institutions and think tanks
where their ideas have exerted a tremendous but seldom recognized influence.
The CIA, which was started right after WWII, was deeply involved in importing
these Nazi officials-supposedly for the purpose of fighting Communism.
The expertise and ideas of these former Nazis have been behind many of the most
controversial U.S. government policies during the ensuing decades. The business
dynasties which have dominated American foreign and domestic policy for a
century and which were avid supporters of Hitler, among them the Rockefeller and
Bush families, have continued to promote the exact same goals of Eugenics that
were pursued in previous decades.
In the past 15 years genetically-engineered foods have become so common- place
that many scientists fear the genetically-modified genes corporations have
spliced into everything from fish and fowl to fruits and vegetables have already
permanently altered the world’s food supply. Some of these
genetically-engineered foods may be intended to accomplish the same
population-reduction goals as Eugenics.
Many Western European nations no longer allow the importation of U.S. produced
meat, grain, dairy or produce because they fear that all have been contaminated
with modified genes, pesticides, artificial hormones and animal feed containing
fecal matter and ground up diseased animal tissues. While priding ourselves on
being the only remaining superpower, we the American people have become lab rats
for the corporate interests that actually run this country.
These corporate interests have pushed the Human Genome Project to its current
advanced state. If one examines the history of these same corporate interests,
specifically as applied to promoting Eugenics, there is no reason whatsoever for
optimism. Even during his speech praising the wonders of the
new technology, President Clinton felt obliged to acknowledge serious concerns
that the sequencing of the human genome could lead to new forms of
discrimination.
Probably the single greatest irony in the human genome issue is the idea being
marketed to the public that this scientific advance will lead to the average
person enjoying a much longer and healthier life. In light of governmental
resistance to preventing corporate pollution of the environment, developing
renewable sources of energy, banning the use of toxic chemicals and insecticides
or protecting the food supply from contamination, can we really expect that this
technology will be used to extend human life generally?
Politicians claim there is an imminent crisis facing the social security system
right now. How much worse will that crisis be if tens of millions of Americans
who might otherwise have died in their sixties and seventies from chronic
disease live into their nineties and beyond? Be assured that those in control
have no intention of allowing this to happen.
The far likelier scenario is that for the very wealthy there will indeed be new
and miraculous medical treatments to prolong and enhance life. For the vast
majority however, this new technology will only be used to further limit their
freedom and privacy while creating a caste system based on genetics that
fundamentally changes the way society is structured.
Today a college degree is required in order to apply for many jobs. In the near
future a genetic degree proving that an applicant fits the genetic profile an
employer wants will be a similar requirement. Unlike a college degree, you’ll
have to be born with the right genetic makeup.
Sound far fetched? Only 68 years ago in Nazi Germany, an entire society based on
the concept of genetic status was created. Not having DNA technology, Hitler was
forced to use eye and hair color as the main basis to determine who was an Aryan
and could therefore hold a socially-desirable position. With the required DNA
testing that elected officials like New
York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani have publicly advocated for all children at birth,
this kind of genetic-profiling can be computerized and applied to all areas of
human life.
An even greater threat to mankind is that this technology will not merely be
used passively to document existing genetic makeup but will be used actively and
aggressively to create new sub-races of human beings specialized to perform
certain tasks. Naturally-created children will find themselves
competing against genetically-modified people that are stronger, faster,
smarter, less constrained by feelings of empathy and more disease and stress
resistant.
Military and police applications are certain to take precedence over civilian
ones, as a new super soldier/cop is bred. Armies and police forces of the future
will be staffed by people created for their assigned tasks the way ants in
nature and farm animals in human society are now specialized.
Corporations have already patented thousands of human, animal and plant genes
which are being mixed together and applied for economic advantage, often with no
idea of the consequences. As corporations obtain ownership rights over more and
more life forms the very idea of human rights and
freedom may become a vestige of the past.
Since it would appear that short of a cataclysm sending mankind back into the
dark ages this technology is here to stay, what can we do? The first step is to
educate ourselves about the threats this technology poses to our survival. We
need to be able to interpret the subtle messages behind the feel-good
propaganda President Clinton and his corporate pals are feeding us and then vote
and express ourselves accordingly.
If it can be regulated based on the universal human values most societies have
shared in common this technology might truly enhance human life and culture. If
on the other hand we leave it up to corporate and government interests to
determine the use, we can be assured of a future in which most people enjoy
the same status that a domestic farm animal does today.
In short, corporate and government control of the human genome may precipitate
the greatest struggle for survival ever faced by human beings.

Berlin. The head of that institute, Dr. Otmar Verschuer, was Josef Mengele’s
patron, teacher and co-researcher. Another Rockefeller sponsored doctor and
researcher, Dr. Franz Kallmann, helped save Verschuer after WWII by testifying
favorably about his value to science during the U.S. government denazification
hearings. Dr. Kallmann later created the American Society of Human Genetics,

companies that had factories in Nazi Germany plans to establish a fund that
would aid people who suffered persecution under Hitler's rule, a gesture that
comes as more American multinational corporations acknowledge having benefited
from slave labor during World War II...At least 50 American companies operated

Chase Banked On Nazis - Report
“Chase National Bank— the precursor of today's Chase Manhattan Bank —
allegedly helped the Nazis plunder Jewish property in France during World War
II, according to a published report. The New York-based bank controlled by the
Rockefeller family closed Jewish accounts even before the Germans ordered them
to do so and did business with the Nazis while they were sending Jews to the gas
chambers, Newsweek magazine reports in this week's edition. And while the U.S.
was at war with the Nazis, Chase also apparently helped German banks do business
with their overseas branches, the magazine reported.”

The next bad beef scandal? Cattle feed now contains things like manure and dead
cats- “To trim costs, many farmers add a variety of waste substances
to their livestock and poultry feed--and no one is making sure they are doing so
safely. Chicken manure in particular is increasingly used as feed by cattle
farmers despite possible health risks to consumers...Chicken manure often
contains campylobacter and salmonella bacteria, which can cause disease in
humans, as well as intestinal parasites, veterinary drug residues, and toxic
heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury...In addition, some 40
billion pounds a year of slaughterhouse wastes like blood, bone, and viscera, as
well as the remains of millions of euthanized cats and dogs
passed along by veterinarians and animal shelters, are rendered annually into
livestock feed...Researchers in addition have experimented with cattle and hog

HUMAN RIGHTS HEROINE
The following article is dedicated to the gay and lesbian community on their weekend of pride in San Francisco. I want to single out one particular individual whose dedication and activism has left a legacy worthy of being honored as one of the greatest of Brussellsprouts. The man's name is Paul Bernardino. A large part of Bernardino's historically important library was donated to the Mae Brussell Collection in March of 1997. Paul Bernardino and his Information Network Against War and Fascism worked hand in glove with the late, great Mae Brussell to assure that people of all colors, sexual orientations, and religions are respected and given the equal opportunity they deserve. Long before the words "Hate Crimes" were conceived, Paul understood that the problems those labeled as socially "unacceptable" faced. Paul reached out to others -- documenting abuses, putting up posters, speaking out at public meetings, holding conferences and placing himself between those who would take civil rights away from those too afraid to stand up for themselves. To Paul Bernardino, and all of you who share his daily struggle, this posting is dedicated.
On Saturday, July 16, 1988 a conference entitled "The Fourth Reich in America: The Politics of Repression in the Warfare State" was sponsored by Bound Together Books and the Information Network Against War and Fascism at the Union Hall at 250 Golden Gate Ave., San Francisco, California. The description of this conference describes the battle for equal rights behind the work of both Paul Bernardino and Mae Brussell.
This conference will bring together speakers and panelists who will trace the evolution of contemporary Fascism from the "fall" of the Third Reich in Hitler's Germany to the rise of the Fourth Reich in the Americas today. As well as presenting a historical perspective of contemporary Fascism, we hope to analyze the relationship between the politics of Fascism and current events. We also hope to engender discussion as to what we, and you, can do about it.
The politics of Fascism, of racial superiority, are not new in the United States. Before World War lI, a racist Eugenics Movement flourished in the United States, resulting in the castration and sterilization of countless so-called "undesirables". A 1922 U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Immigration and Naturalization published the model Eugenics Sterilization Law which listed categories of people who were subject to mandatory sterilization. This law became the blueprint for the 1933 sterilization law in Nazi Germany. Two million people were sterilized under Hitler's Third Reich. Eventually sterilization led to "euthanasia" -- the outright murder of those countless people as "undesirables". The influence of Fascist ideology marked countless people as "disposable", to be used as testing populations in the name of scientific advancement. It still does today. We can see the results of this genocide ideology in our government's treatment of Native Americans today; in low intensity warfare and genocide in Central America; in the disproportionate incarceration of Third World people in US prisons and psychiatric institutions; in US dumping of toxic waste in Third World countries; in the CRACK on our streets...
Now we must face the awesome and hideous specter of what can only be termed: AIDSGATE.
Fascism is a cancer in our body politic. Henry Ford (Hitler's admitted mentor and reputed financial supporter) is dead. Father Coughlin (his widely heard radio spokesman) is dead. But Fascism is alive today, festering, deep under cover..... and not so deep.....
As conference speakers will prove conclusively, a "Creeping", "Friendly" Fascism has nearly overwhelmed us, and we didn't even notice.
This ideology of Fascism in the Americas today has been implemented by the actual personnel of the Axis which we have been led to believe lay defeated.
The Fascists did not lose WWlI. SOME Fascists lost WWlI. Others went underground, and lived to fight (and thrive) again. A week before the collapse of the Third Reich, six thousand SS men disappeared with $800,000,000.00 in loot. Where did they go? Which one attended Reagan's inauguration?
Imperial Japan's germ warfare lab staff never stood trial for war crimes. Where are they now? What have they done recently?
Hitler's secret spy network in the Soviet Union defected en masse to fuse with the OSS, forming the CIA. Now, where are they not?
Men like Ishii, Gehlen, Skorzeny, Von Braun, Barbie, and even Mangele himself, have shaped our world. In spite of us, behind our backs, without our consent, against our better interest, they were saved from justice and intentionally recruited by Western Intelligence to form the basis of the post-war covert government. Now the chickens have come home to roost.
Their power is immense. Our ignorance is their main strength. Learn, before it is too late, the trail from Auschwitz to AIDS; from the Schutstaffel to the Medallion Cartel; from the Reichsbank to the Vatican; from the ruins of the Third Reich to the still resistible triumph of the Fourth.
This describes the overall view of the Fourth Reich that Mae Brussell and Paul Bernardino fought so hard to expose and conquer. Little did either one of them know that Mae Brussell had only months to live. Mae Brussell died at the age of 66 on Monday, October 3, 1988. One of the bright lights in the crusade for human rights, succumbed to cancer and her beloved Brussellsprouts around the world mourned. In 1989 the entire 12 hour conference described above was televised by Channel 25 Viacom Cable Vision of San Francisco, in honor of Mae Brussell.
This author was honored by being invited to speak at another conference sponsored by the Information Network Against War and Fascism on October 19, 1996, where I first had the opportunity to meet with Paul Bernardino and his fellow activists who had been fighting the honorable war for so long. It was an evening I will always remember.
So many battles are necessary to win the war against the Fourth Reich that one has to wonder what wounds these soldiers of honor suffer along the way. It was rumored that Mae Brussell and her family suffered a great deal for her intellectual honesty and her outspoken nature. In reviewing the information and reference data sheets that accompanied each of Mae Brussell's one-hour radio shows between the years of 1978 and 1979, I found confirmation that the rumors were true.
In Tape #360 on Sides 1 and 2, Mae discusses the impact her research has had upon her and her family. The best evidence of just what an irritant Mae Brussell was to the United States Government is an FBI memo dated 9-18-67. It reads as follows:

Referenced communications set forth information relating to Mrs. May Magnet Brussell of Carmel, California. Due to the fact Mrs. Brussell has been in contact with James Garrison at New Orleans and has made public comments concerning the assassination investigation, Dallas and San Francisco are to immediately incorporate the information received concerning her into an appropriate letterhead memoranda suitable for dissemination both to the Department and U.S. Secret Service.
Copies of the memoranda are to be furnished to the New Orleans Office for dissemination to U.S. Secret Service locally and U.S. Secret Service at both Dallas and San Francisco are also to receive appropriate copies.
This matter is to be handled immediately, and replies are to be marked for the attention of the General Investigative Division.
NOTE:
On 9/15/67 at 6:45 p.m., a reservation agent at Delta Airlines, Dallas, received a call that a bomb was on board Delta Airlines, Flight 827. Flight 827 originated at Atlanta and was enroute to San Francisco via Dallas. A search of the aircraft failed to locate any bomb.
Mrs. Mae Magnin Brussell who was boarding this flight for San Francisco made comments at Love Field, Dallas, she had conducted research on the Kennedy assassination and had been in conference with DA Jim Garrison, New Orleans, for three days. San Francisco determined that Mrs. Brussell in the past has expressed great alarm over the fact that the United States is becoming fascist. She is the daughter of Rabbi Edgar F. Magnin of Los Angeles. It has been reported Mrs. Brussell has "left-wing" leanings and is not in good favor with her father. She supports Mark Lane's book, "Rush to Judgment" and takes the view Lee Harvey Oswald was not a communist. She pictures America as controlled by conspirators in the Government which view she has stated publicly. She is writing a book on the assassination and claims the Government is withholding information on the assassination and the press is suppressing news on the investigation being conducted by New Orleans DA James Garrison. Mrs. Brussell is described as an author and a playwright, and due to her thinking which she has expressed publicly, Dallas and San Francisco are to incorporate information into letterhead memoranda suitable for dissemination to the Department and the U.S. Secret Service.
Mae Brussells' recollections dated October 17, 1978 differ sharply from those described by the FBI agent writing the memo. On the bottom on the data sheet are Mae's notes:
P.S. I "didn't make comments at Love Field" about Jim Garrison. Before I got into the airport, two Dallas police came into the plane and escorted me out, to a separate room, by myself, apart from all other passengers. This FBI report written September 18, 1967. They stated that "Mrs. Brussell in the past had expressed great alarm over the fact that the United States is becoming fascist".

Three years after this FBI memo was written Mae Brussell paid the ultimate price for her activism. On December 14, 1979 the school bus containing her two daughters and other children was run off the road in Carmel, California. On November 3, 1978, Mae Brussell finally wrote about it on Side 1 of the Data Sheet that accompanied Tape #361.

Death of Bonnie Brussell, Cecil Neill, Sharon Elliot. Near death of Barbara Brussell, who had broken back, two broken legs, compound fractures, broken arm, broken nose, facial cuts. In 1971, Barbara had more surgery on her left leg, reset bones.
Americans in the new millennium still believe they are free. Lying politicians say Americans should speak out and participate in their government, however, those who have spoken out face retaliation. Mae Brussell was a good citizen seeking the truth through her research and participating actively in her democracy. She firmly believed that if one does not learn from history, one is bound to repeat it. One of her favorite quotes was contained in a book review of Colin Simpson's Lusitania published in American Opinion, 1974, and authored by Medford Evens:
"History does have a plot to unravel. The world is bewildering, most bewildering to those who study it most. The world is terrifying, especially to those who have the courage to face it. The consolation is that nothing is without meaning, whether we can explain it or not. The Lusitania is interesting, not because of Pearl Harbor, or the Kennedy assassination, BUT BECAUSE OF THINGS TO COME.
Why should one feel that what happened to the Lusitania is one of "those old, far off things", while the secret of Pearl Harbor, or the Kennedy assassination, now ten years old, is an unresolved controversy still on the docket?
THE ANSWER IS THAT ALL THESE MATTERS ARE STILL ON THE DOCKET. HISTORY IS NOT A SUCCESSION OF DISCRETE EVENTS, BUT A TAPESTRY WOVEN OF MANY STRANDS IN WHICH MOTIFS, AND TYPE CAST CHARACTERS APPEAR AND REAPPEAR, IN WHICH PLOTS AND SUBPLOTS ARE INTERFACED."
Mae Brussell also believed that the Fascist take over of the government of the United States resulted in our new Fourth Reich using Agent Provocateurs to instigate violent events that would then be used to limit ever more severely our civil rights. On Side 1 of the 2 page Data Sheet dated September 14, 1979 accompanying World Watchers International Tape #406, Mae supplies her favorite definition of an Agent Provocateur.
"An agent provocateur is a police agent who is introduced into any political organization with instructions to foment discontent... or to fake a case in order to give his employers the
right to act against the organization in question.

Mae often talked about the murders by Agent Provocateurs to produce the desired result wanted by the government. She discussed: the murders of Rock and Roll musicians to stop the peace movement; the murders of foreign government officials to satisfy the greed of big business; the murder of judges, attorneys, and jurors to dictate the outcomes of trials; the murders of high priced whores to silence loose tongues, etc. Her outspoken honesty earned her the anger of many.
Mort Sahl, writing in his book HEARTLAND [1976] on page 156 asked the question:
"How many more have to die before some Americans realize murder is not a way of life? Hugh Hefner (Playboy) is now reduced to attacking Mae Brussell, who is an assassination researcher who pursues the murders among us selflessly."
Harassment of Mae Brussell continued until her death. "Automobile happenings" are described by Mae on Side 2 of the Data Sheet dated November 3, 1978 that accompanied Tape #361:

Soldiers of war fighting for justice and truth in this land of the free and the home of the brave must expect to be wounded over and over again. The only hope for this great land of ours is that these are the soldiers that survive and that those inflicting the wounds die, so that freedom will ultimately prevail.
